Policies and strategies for future VET
The primary objective of Policies and Strategies for Future VET (WP6) is to ensure that the invaluable knowledge gathered from the other work packages is effectively shared and translated into practical strategies that can help develop future responses to ensure young people’s participation, retention, and agency in Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs across Europe. By focusing on student perspectives and experiences, WP6 aims to recommend strategies that will qualify and enhance national VET programs, making them more inclusive, engaging, and empowering for all learners.
Research has consistently shown that VET programs play a crucial role in fostering social mobility, reducing inequality, and driving economic growth. However, despite the clear benefits of VET, many young people still face significant barriers to participation and success in these programs. Through a comprehensive analysis of the data and insights gathered in previous work packages, WP6 will identify key challenges and opportunities for improving VET policies and practices.
To achieve this goal, WP6 will employ a range of research methods, including qualitative interviews with students, teachers, and stakeholders, as well as quantitative surveys and policy analyses. By triangulating these diverse data sources, we will develop a robust evidence base for recommending targeted interventions and reforms.
Our approach will be grounded in the principles of inclusivity and empowerment, recognizing the diverse needs and aspirations of different groups of learners. We will pay particular attention to the experiences of marginalized and underrepresented groups, such as those from low-income backgrounds, ethnic minorities, and students with disabilities. By amplifying these voices and perspectives, we aim to ensure that future VET policies and strategies are truly inclusive and equitable.
Throughout the process, we will engage closely with key stakeholders, including policymakers, educators, employers, and civil society organizations. By fostering dialogue and collaboration across these different sectors, we hope to build broad-based support for the implementation of our recommendations.
Ultimately, the success of WP6 will be measured by its impact on the lives of young people across Europe. By providing evidence-based guidance for the design and delivery of high-quality, inclusive, and empowering VET programs, we believe that this work package has the potential to transform the educational and career trajectories of countless individuals, while also contributing to the social and economic well-being of our communities and societies as a whole.
